Clean Up The Claypans

The local community is being encouraged to once again help keep the Ilparpa Claypans looking beautiful by taking part in this year’s Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, 3rd March.
The Friends of the Ilparpa Claypans (now a branch of Alice Springs Landcare), in conjunction with ALEC (Arid Lands Environment Centre), is encouraging volunteers to join us, for whatever time you can invest, between 7:30 am and 11:30 am.

In the inaugural event in 2017, approximately 40 wonderful volunteers helped clear a whopping five tonne of assorted rubbish, including four rusty car bodies, car bonnets & tyres and about 25 bags of general garbage that included bottles, cans and cigarette butts.
Now in its thirtieth year, this national event provides a great opportunity for people to help beautify and preserve their local natural spaces. Both the Alice Springs Landcare Group and ALEC have a long history of working to protect important areas in and around Alice Springs and have achieved great results removing buffel grass at the claypans for the past year.
So, please come with your family, friends, workmates and neighbours for an hour or two! It's easy, fun and family friendly. Bring your own drinking water, as well as gloves if you can, otherwise we will have some available for you. Please also ensure you and everyone you bring wears wears hats, long sleeved shirts and closed toe shoes or boots. Snacks will be provided.
Make 2019 a year of eco-action! Because when the rubbish is gone, nature can carry on! Change starts with YOU!!
