Sunday 28th August
Repair Café
We have the return of the Repair Café
They will be holding another one of their popular events where beloved items can be mended and given a new lease of life.
As a community-led event, relevant businesses and/or experts run a stall where visitors bring broken items from home and watch, learn or help as the repairs get done. Repairs are free for the community and experts participate on a voluntary basis.
If the repair is complicated or time-consuming, repairers can always say so and direct the person to their business at a later date.
Repair Cafe's are a great way to get to know other people, learn about the local resources available and reduce waste! The success of Repair Café's is built on this foundation of community participation.
When: Sunday, 28th August, 10am to 2pm.
Where: 50+ Community Centre (11 Wills Terrace opposite the Todd Tavern).
Why: Repair cafes' benefits are multifold. They make repair more accessible which promotes the circular economy by keeping items in use and putting a focus on making things last. This not only helps save people money but also the environment by reducing consumption, manufacture, and use of raw materials.
