Next June we’re celebrating 40 years since the of the Arid Lands Environment Centre (ALEC) was incorporated. Well, since the Central Australian Conservation Council (CACC), formerly known as the Environment Centre Central Australia (ECCA) and now known as ALEC, was incorporated in 1980.
To mark this momentous occasion of 40 years of activism, conservation and community engagement we’re putting on a weekend to remember. In the vein of the 1990s and early 2000s, on Friday the 12th we’re having a curry night, art auction and quiz night at Witchetty’s at Araluen Cultural Precinct.
On the night of Saturday the 13th, we’re organising a gala dinner under the stars at White Gums, Honeymoon Gap. We’re expecting around 200 people with music, entertainment, speeches and recognition awards for the people who have played pivotal roles over the years.
On the afternoon of Sunday the 14th, we’re organising a laid back, family-friendly pizza party at the Community Garden to reminisce and remind ourselves of why we do the work that we do and how we can take ALEC forward into the next decade.
We’d love you to make it to some or all of these events to celebrate our ruby red anniversary.
