If you’d like to join one of ALEC’s subcommittees, simply express your interest at a Board meeting. Once confirmed, you’ll be added to the relevant subcommittee’s shared WhatsApp group for communication and updates.
People and Safety Committee:
Purpose:
- Preform risk based assessment of people related activities relating to ALEC core business;
- Monitor and manage Policies, Procedures and risks associated with people involved in ALEC activities;
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards;
Inclusion and Diversity working group
Purpose:
- Provide advice and input on how the board can strengthen the ALEC organisation to be more diverse and inclusive for all staff, members and stakeholders that are aligned against the Strategic Plan 2021-2023 Objectives;
- Investigate opportunities and make recommendations to the board to establish and maintain partnerships with local and interstate stakeholders and partners to broaden community consultation and input into the functions of the organisation;
- Provide support and advice to attending staff on any agenda items the staff may request support and advice on regarding diversity and inclusion.
- Provide advice and recommendation to the board on policies and procedures that relate to diversity and inclusion and cultural safety.
- Work with communication coordinator to support them in the development of the Communication Plan.
- To ensure compliance with relevant policy and procedures is met with all service providers and contractors.
Finance and Audit Committee
Purpose:
- Ensure the integrity of ALEC’s financial management and reporting;
- Monitor and manage financial and associated risk;
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards;
- Ensure compliance with internal guidelines, policies and procedures related to financial management.
Fundraising committee
Purpose:
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies aligned with ALEC’s strategic plan
- Support major fundraising campaigns and appeals (e.g. EOFY, end-of-year, special projects)
- Help identify new funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and donor programs
- Assist with the planning and promotion of fundraising events
- Encourage peer-to-peer and community fundraising initiatives
- Strengthen relationships with donors and supporters through communication and stewardship
- Provide feedback and ideas to improve ALEC’s fundraising messages and materials
- Work with staff to monitor fundraising performance and outcomes
