Local Stories: National Action

A provocative discussion about environmental struggles in the central deserts

Join us for an evening that brings together powerful local stories and bold national perspectives. We will explore the urgent environmental challenges facing the central deserts; from escalating climate risks to the rapid spread of buffel grass, and the growing need to take our advocacy national.

Hear from an inspiring panel of speakers:

  • Camille Dobson: Eastern Arrernte woman protecting Country from the impacts of buffel grass.
  • Ned Bible: Northern Territory Climate Justice Coordinator, working at the intersection of climate policy, frontline communities, and urgent action.
  • Ros Harvey: President of the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF), bringing national leadership and insights into how local struggles shape Australia’s environmental future.

The conversation will be facilitated by an ALEC staff member and will create space for storytelling, strategy, and community connection. The venue is fully air-conditioned for your comfort, and we invite you to stay afterwards for a free shared dinner with speakers, supporters, and community members.

Come along, be part of the discussion, and help strengthen the movement for a safe climate and healthy desert Country.
