The Albanese Government’s environment reforms take a hatchet to already inadequate environmental protections and the public’s right to participate in decisions that affect us all.
Tell Labor we need stronger laws to protect this beautiful continent, not a bill that take us backwards.
Make sure Labor knows you want strong environmental laws that protect the NT's Nature! comment on Federal Environment Minister Murray Watt's many facebook/instagram posts about this, and call your federal rep!

Points you could make on the phone:
- The new “streamlined assessment” will cut out Traditional Owners, local communities and the public from having a say in decisions on fracking and mining projects.
- The impacts of climate change must be part of decision-making, including evaluation of the environmental and social impact of direct and downstream greenhouse gas pollution.
- The NT government under the CLP can’t be trusted with decisions on matters of national significance and they especially can’t be trusted with the water trigger!
- Sweeping new power for the Minister to make “rulings” that must be followed will be used to get sweetheart deals for mining companies. It’s an unprecedented power grab and is anti-democratic
- Setting up a ‘pay to destroy’ scheme to enable companies to simply pay into a fund in order to obtain approval to clear habitat is deeply flawed.

First Nations people have not been given a role in assessment and approval of action that harms the environment and there is no requirement to consider cultural impacts.
