AI data centre meeting + have your say

Find out what the massive AI data centre push means for the NT and add your voice to the Federal Parliament Senate Inquiry into AI and data centres before 1 September 2026.

The Finocchiaro government is pushing a dystopian plan to make the NT the ‘data centre capital of the globe.’

But how necessary are data centres and why is the NT at the centre of this push for water-guzzling, fracked gas-powered, hyperscale developments?

What you’ll learn:

  • What is a hyperscale data centre and what are the impacts fracked gas data centres will have on the NT;

  • Where the proposed AI Datacentres are located in the NT;

  • What opportunities exist to push back and why it's important to make a submission to the Senate Inquiry.

Be part of a national and global push for AI accountability and transparency, whilst resisting the unregulated roll-out of hyperscale datacentres. These data centres are proposed to use Beetaloo fracked gas, sucking huge amounts of precious groundwater from livegiving ancient aquifers and promoting large-scale landclearing. It is the trifecta of environmental harm whilst adding little to our local communities. All so, AI slop can be generated, risky advances in artificial intelligence are led by untrustworthy tech companies, and massive profits are generated for these same tech companies leading us down a dystopian path.

It needs to be stated that the massive increased demand for AI is a climate and nature disaster, fast-tracking global heating and damaging the NT’s landscapes in the process.
