The Arid Lands Environment Centre warmly invites you to attend the online launch this Thursday of Australia's First National Buffel Grass Report - Buffel Bulldozer: The invasive grass burning through Australia’s landscapes and putting lives at Risk - with special guests from across the continent. Speakers include Dr. Ellen Ryan-Colton (Flinders University, SA), Camille Dobson (Eastern Arrernte woman and advocate, NT), Taigen Ryan (Invasive Species Council, QLD), Asta Hill (Alice Springs Mayor, NT), Fiona Murdoch (Mallee Conservation, VIC), and Ros Harvey (Australian Conservation Foundation).
The event is on via zoom this Thursday, 8 October 6-7pm AEDT (3-4pm WA, 4.30-5.30pm NT, 5-6pm QLD, 5.30-6.30pm SA and 6-7pm NSW, VIC, ACT & TAS).

Buffel grass invasion is a catastrophe across Australia. Buffel grass is already found in Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory. It's transforming landscapes, increasing the intensity of wildfires, threatening biodiversity and placing growing pressure on the places, plants, animals and communities that call the arid and semi-arid lands home.
Join us for the launch of our new report examining the impacts of buffel grass across inland Australia, and what needs to change.
The report brings together evidence about the environmental, cultural, health and climate impacts of buffel grass, while highlighting the urgent need for stronger action to prevent its spread and protect Central Australia’s unique landscapes.
At the launch, we’ll share key findings from the report, hear from people working on the frontline of buffel grass management and create space for discussion about where we go from here.
