Campaign Update and Community Workshop

Thursday 14th May we are having a Campaign Update across ALEC’s advocacy work, - including buffel grass, anti fracking, climate justice, and water. There will be a particular focus on buffel grass and recent advocacy efforts in Canberra with a conversation by special guest Eastern Arrernte Traditional Owner, Camille Dobson and our campaigner Kat Herbert. In addition, we are having a Community Workshop on next steps, and how to strengthen our movement.

What: Campaign Update and Community Workshop. Spotlight on buffel.
Dinner available
Where: The Roastery 9 Hele Cr
When: 6 - 8 pm Thursday 14 May

What could you get out of it?

  • Learn about environmental issues in the region

  • Be more involved with your local environment centre

  • Help us workshop the next steps

  • Hear from Eastern Arrernte Traditional Owner, Camille Dobson, talk about buffel grass impacts on her Country and the meetings in Canberra

  • Community connection

As you know, buffel grass has exploded after the recent rains, Josh Burgoyne has pushed through a weak so-called “Buffel Grass Weed Management Plan” for the Territory and there has been ongoing processes at a national level for buffel to be listed as a Weed of National Significance and Key Threatening Process.

The buffel is growing. Let's work together on how we can make change and build a more positive vision for the arid and semi-arid lands.

6pm Doors for a 6.15pm start.
Dinner available.
