Leaving a gift in your will (or a bequest) is a wonderful way to provide ongoing support for protecting the environment of the arid lands.
Protecting the environment is an intergenerational responsibility. The actions we take today will impact on the future we will leave our children and grandchildren. It is important that we speak up for nature and that we support the organisations that work to ensure a clean (safe), healthy future for everyone.

The Arid Lands Environment Centre - Standing up for people and Country
For 40 years the Arid Lands Environment Centre (ALEC) has been standing up for our water, land and communities.
We have protected our community against invasive proposals like nuclear waste dumps and uranium mines, and continue to monitor new projects and government policy.
We were instrumental in the Alice Solar City and Alice Water Smart programs, and continue to support local initiatives including the Alice Springs Community Garden, Repower Alice Springs, and desertSMART EcoFair.
With fracking on the horizon and our climate heating up, we need to be working together. Now is the time for clear vision, strong voices and taking action. Leaving a gift in your will supports ALEC’s vision of healthy futures for arid lands and people.
WRITING YOUR WILL
Your will can reflect what is important to you. Naturally you'll want to look after your loved ones first, however discuss your will with your family to ensure they understand that you also support a clean healthy environment and that charitable giving is part of your wishes.
It is important to review your will regularly to make sure it is still valid so that your wishes can be fulfilled. If you have already written your will, it can be reviewed and rewritten to include your charitable gift to ALEC.
SUGGESTED WORDING FOR YOUR WILL
Our suggested wording for a will is:

OR - “I give [insert description of specific gift]…
OR - “I give [insert percentage] %…
…of my estate free from all debts (secured and unsecured) and all duties and taxes (whether federal or state) payable in respect of my estate to the (“ALEC”) for its general purposes, and I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer of the said ALEC shall be a full and sufficient discharge of this bequest.”
