Chandler Salt Mine/Waste Storage information Session

Tellus Holdings Pty Ltd is proposing to develop a dual salt mine and waste storage facility 120km south of Alice Springs near the community of Tjitjikala. The draft environmental impact statement for the project has been released for public consulation and submissions are being accepted up until the 31st of March.

ALEC has read through the extensive EIS documents and will be providing an insight into our environmental conerns about the proposal. There are a range of issues that need to be addressed by the EPA including the disclosure of wastes intended to be stored, the method of storage (vicous slurry backfilling), connectivity with surface and groundwater resources and connections with CSG and fracking industries.

We are holding this night to provide critical information about the project and assist in making submissions to the Government. It is important that we hold the Government accountable for their election committments on transparency and best practie environmental management.

Hope you see you there! Tuesday March 28, 2017 at 5pm at ALEC.
