Join the Arid Lands Outback Trek

Join ALEC for the Arid Lands Outback Trek in June 2019 and help raise vital funds to protect and preserve Australia’s outback.

Out in the desert everything depends on clean water, healthy country and strong communities.

85% of the Territory is under application for exploration for petroleum and gas. Mining and fracking threaten to industrialise our wild places, contaminate precious groundwater supplies and contribute to climate change.

Invasive weeds and feral animals threaten our unique biodiversity, and climate change brings many challenges to life in remote communities.

With vast landscapes and small populations, the Territory needs strong voices to protect our arid heartland. The funds supporters raise in this challenge will enable the Arid Lands Environment Centre to keep standing up strong for the desert country against dirty and dangerous developments, and support work to make desert communities more prepared for climate change.

By taking part in this incredible outback adventure you are supporting the work of the Arid Lands Environment Centre to keep standing up for Australia’s desert heartland. Find out more information at
