Living in Harmony?: Nature and People - Fire

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to the novel coronavirus Covid19 pandemic and the need for us to ensure physical distance to reduce the risk of transmission and impact of the virus, we have decided to postpone this event until a later date. Apologies for any inconvenience.

How can we live in harmony with fire in the desert?

Join Arid Lands Environment Centre to discuss bushfires and climate change, and their impact on arid lands and people.

Special guest speakers include Simon Casey, Centralian Volunteer of the Year and Captain of Alice Springs Volunteer Fire Brigade; and Western Arrernte man and Tjuwanpa Ranger Coordinator Benjamin Kenny.

The Gurmat Parchar Sewa Society of Alice Springs will be providing delicious curry for dinner, and also handing out seedlings as part of their goal to support the community to plant 500 trees. Come along at 5:00pm to learn how to tie a turban as part of our celebration of Harmony Day.

Donations welcomed on the night for bushfire-related causes such as Wildlife Victoria.
