The Centre for Sustainable Arid Towns consultancy, or CSAT, operated between 2003 and 2007. CSAT's research gives valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities of Central Australian towns.

What is the Centre for Sustainable Arid Towns or CSAT?

CSAT is a not-for-profit, research and consulting enterprise formed in 2003. Our office is located in Alice Springs, central Australia. However we have undertaken contracts throughout arid Australia (in WA, SA, QLD and the NT) as well as the Top End.

How do we see this vision in practice?

CSAT are local specialists in urban and remote area, integrated, sustainable resource use. We work with government, business, communities and individuals to achieve the following outcomes:

· reductions in energy and water use

· improvements in the efficiency and wealth of communities and enterprises

· improved sustainability, comfort and functionality in workplaces, homes and social venues, and

· reductions in waste and increased reuse/ recycling of materials
