2006 Nov 29: Territory Acts Against Canberra’s Nuclear Push

Traditional owners, pastoralists and community representatives who have travelled from each of the sites being targeted for the proposed Commonwealth radioactive waste dump will be joined by Territory politicians and national environment groups at a media conference in Darwin today.

The conference will be held in the Elsey Room at Parliament House from 1pm, immediately following a meeting between the groups, the Chief Minister and Senior NTG Members.

Speakers include:

- Elliot McAdam MLA- Minister for Central Australia and Member for Barkly Region

- Dianne Stokes- Traditional Owner, Muckaty Station

- Dave Sweeney-Australian Conservation Foundation

- Valerie Utley- Fisher’s Ridge pastoralist

There will time for questions and photo opportunities with representatives from all of the dump sites.
