ALEC - working to develop Alice Springs as a Solar City
The Arid Lands Environment Centre (ALEC) welcomes today’s announcement by Federal Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Malcolm Turnbull that Alice Springs is the newest “Solar City”.
ALEC is a key partner in the community-driven Alice Springs Solar Cities consortium. Consortium Members will use the Federal funding to review and make positive changes to Alice Spring’s energy production and consumption.
ALEC Interim Coordinator Karissa Preuss states “We are excited by today's announcement. Solar Cities will be an important part of developing a more sustainable energy future for Alice Springs.”
“ALEC believes that solar power can represent a real alternative in energy production.”
“ALEC looks forward to working other consortium partners in realising the full potential of this opportunity to improve energy use and reduce greenhouse gasses”
