Job Vacancy- residential water auditor

Full time RESIDENTIAL WATER AUDITOR wanted

DesertSMART COOLmob is seeking a full time residential water auditor for a 3 month contract commencing early September 2009.

The auditorwill conduct water audits of residential households in Alice Springs using the COOLmob water auditing methodology.

The role aims to assist householders to identify water saving initiatives in their house and garden.

This is a successful, mature program with several hundred audits already completed in Alice Springs.

Duty description

  • Conduct water audits of households, including minor follow-up.
  • Liaise with Alice Solar Cities, Power Water Corporation and other relevant agencies who refer water audit customers to COOLmob.
  • Assist the promotion of water audits to the general public,including occasionally at public events. Sign-up householders for audits.
  • Liaise (by phone or email) with pre-signed households to arrange audit times.
  • Manage the COOLmob water audit customer database.
  • Assist the professional development of COOLmob's community-based water auditors.

Work conditions

  • Hours are flexible, may involve out of hours or weekend work.
  • Part time work may be considered.
  • The Auditor is expected to complete a minimum of 13 audits per week.
  • Successful applicant must provide their own vehicle / transport to attend audits. Vehicle running costs will be renumerated by COOLmob.
  • Training will be provided on the COOLmob audit methodology.
  • The position is a 3 month contract commencing early September 2009.
  • The Auditor will be a full-time casual employee working 37.5 hours per week.
  • The casual hourly rate is $29.52, (equivalent to $52,000 salary plus superannuation and leave loading per year).
  • The position will base out of the Arid Lands Environment Centre office in the Todd Mall.
  • The employee's performance will be reviewed after 2 weeks.
  • Employment conditions will be as per the Arid Lands Environment Centre employee agreement.

Criteria

essential

  1. Must have own transport and current drivers licence
  2. Demonstrated experience in or knowledge of approaches towards fostering sustainable behaviour of individuals and/or communities
  3. Demonstrated experience in or knowledge of implementation of environmental auditing
  4. Demonstrated understanding of water and energy conservation issues, preferably in the Alice Springs context
  5. Ability to commence work by the 15th September and work flexible hours

The project originally started as part of the Australian Greenhouse Office national Cool Communities program in 2001 and has been assisting Alice Springs residents ever since.

COOLmob is an initiative of the Arid Lands Environment Centre and is financially assisted by the Power Water Corporation and the Northern Territory Department of Natural Resources, Environment and the Arts.
